Memorization skills can be improved by reading Arabic letters correctly and in compliance with rules & guidelines. In addition, it allows you to predict and recognize patterns to a certain extent. Some parts of the Quran require you to mentally prepare several letters in advance from the actual letters your lips are currently pronouncing. This habit will help you to always plan ahead.
Plus, if you truly understand a verse’s meaning, intention, and purpose (as the prophet Muhammad understood it), you will be able to respond to any situation quickly and correctly. False information can be quickly separated from true information. There is less ambiguity and confusion for you now.
There are many earthly or worldly advantages to reciting the Quranic verses. The following are some of them:
- Reciting the Qur’an strengthens human souls and spirits and allows them to cope with hardships and difficulties in life.
- As the Qur’an is “light,” it enlightens a house upon its recitation (the house). (Al-Kafi, vol 2, p 610)
- It will soften our hearts
We must clear our hearts of stain and rust. (Kanz-o Al-Ummal, vol2, hadith no. 3924)
- Our sins will be removed by Allah (swt) when we recite the Qur’an. Indeed, recitation of Qur’anic verses atones for our sins. (Wasael Al-Shia, vol 4, p 839)
- Qur’an recitation is a requirement for anyone who wishes to speak with God (P). (Kanz-o Al-Ummal, vol 21, hadith no. 2257)
- We strengthen our faith in God through the recitation of the Qur’an. (Ghurar Al-Hekam and Durar Al-Kelam, p 263)
